The time has come for me to return home to the UK and I must say I’m looking forward to a nice WARM shower and a night in my own bed.
The journey from Bogota to Newark was, well, Colombian! We set off about 2 and a half hours late (!!) – I had a 3 hours 17mins transfer window (!!) and the reason why? Where do I start?!
1. We had too much fuel (I fail to see how this is a problem but apparently it is).
2. We then had an issue with the engine whilst burning fuel.
3. We had to wait for maintenance to come and have a look and fix the problem.
4. To put the cherry on the cake we then didn’t have enough fuel due to the problems and had to wait another hour to get some more.
Colombian timings and professionalism at its finiest! Luckily we landed an hour or so early an once I’d collected and re-checked my luggage I had 30 minutes to get through two sets of security (thanks America!) and get to the other terminal to board the next flight!
Through some miracle and a lot of smiling/eyelash fluttering I managed to make it there in time and got home in one piece!
My time in Colombia was fantastic! It is a very, very beautiful country with very beautiful people who are always happy to help! Unfortunately there was a lot of things/places I didn’t get to see so who knows I may return one day but for now I’m going to enjoy my bed and warm showers a little too much!
I must say I’m happy to be home and surrounded by organised people though, it’s fantastic if you’re a chilled out person enough to deal with lateness and unorganised messes in your life but I’ve definitely come to realise I am not one of those people! I am the queen of organisation – you should see my spreadsheets!
Thank you to everyone who has kept reading and kept offering advice! Thank you to everyone in Colombia who helped and didn’t get too annoyed at my appalling Spanish!
Over and out.
